The State government has appointed IAS officer Sanjay Goyal as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) and its three subsidiaries – Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MPGCL), Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited (MPTCL) and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MPDCL).
Goyal who returned from inter-state deputation in Uttar Pradesh, was also posted as Commissioner and Secretary of Revenue & Disaster Management Department. He will also function as Chairman, Board of Revenue.
In a minor reshuffle in the State bureaucracy, the State government also appointed Ambrose Ch Marak as full-fledged Chairman of Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).
Marak will also continue as Secretary of the Education Department. However, he has been relieved of his functions as Director, School Education and Literacy.
Rosetta M. Kurbah, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department shall also function as Director, School Education & Literacy.
Further, Kurbah has been appointed as State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, Principal Secretary, Fisheries, Power Departments etc has been relieved of functions as Principal Secretary of Power Department.
Ripnar Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary of Personnel & Administrative Reforms, Revenue & Disaster Management Departments etc shall also function as Commissioner and Secretary of the Public Works Department (Buildings).
She is however relieved of her functions as Commissioner and Secretary of Revenue & Disaster Management Department with effect from the date of handing over charge.
