Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said that the State government is working on a “saturation model” to fulfil its five agendas for the people in the next few years.
“We have a five point agenda, that is, road for all, power for all, housing for all, information for all and water for all that we are working on a saturation model that we would like to achieve in the next few years,” he said at a function to inaugurate road infrastructures in East Garo Hills district today.
“Roads are very crucial for the development of any place as without roads no development can come,” he said.
He informed that for 2023-2024 under the PMAY RS 1600 crores has been sanctioned for 1500 houses and that the road infrastructures under the PMGSY scheme were facilitated by MP of Tura Agatha Sangma.
The chief minister also said that Meghalaya is one of the best performing states in PMGSY.
The road infrastructure which were inaugurated were, 35 km Nengmandalgre to Daribokgre (Mandalgre) road, Cherangre to Sisobibra (Nengmandalgre to Gitokgre) road of 7.820 km, a 51.68 metres bridge over river Rongon and another over the river Rongre.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the roads will be a blessing for economic, health, educational and day to day activities for the people of the surrounding villages and stated that the government is ensuring that development reaches every village.
He said that under PMGSY, 1200 km of road length will be developed across the State. He called for cooperation of nokmas, sordars and land owners in the land acquisition for development of roads for the larger interest and benefit of the people of the state.
