Shillong, Mar 24: The Health and Family Welfare Department will review contracts of NGOs that have contracts to run Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the state if they are found not to be providing medicines to patients.
Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said that it has not come to the government’s knowledge of a lack of medicines in PHCs run by NGOs, though the department will investigate if it receives any complaints in this regard.
“We will definitely send a team and review if we find that the service is not up to the mark,” Shylla told reporters on the sidelines of a programme today.
There are six NGOs running 28 PHCs in Meghalaya as well as a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ichamati, East Khasi Hills.
