Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today said that the government will not take knee-jerk decisions in matters of suspension of police officers involved in the controversial killing of ex-HNLC leader, Cherishterfield Thangkhiew.
“Whatever we do it should satisfy all concerned. It should be a middle path for those people who are affected,” Rymbui added.
He said in a democratic country citizens have their right to express their views and the government is there to provide them the service. There are rules and procedures and the government will have to thoroughly analyse before any decisions are made, he added.
On his continuation as Home Minister, Rymbui said that till date the matter is under examination by the Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma.
“So I still continue to look after the (Home) department,” he said.
Rymbui had tendered his resignation as home minister on august 15 after the encounter of the former general secretary of militant group HNLC on August 13.
