Tourism Minister Timothy D Shira is optimistic that better roads in Garo Hills will improve the area as a tourism destination.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the government is expecting an increase in overall tourists to the state this year.
According to Shira, improved road infrastructure will lead to an increase in visitors to Garo Hills. In the past bad road conditions put off tourists, he opined.
Shira also said that the government is keen to sell the state as a destination during the Christmas holidays. The minister also said that his department will be liberal in providing loans to those wishing to construct homestays.
