State BJP vice president Bernard Marak has said that the State government should have taken proper care of athletes taking part in the 5th Meghalaya Games being held in Tura since so much money is being spent on the sports event.
Reacting to complaints of inadequate food provided to the athletes during the opening day of the Meghalaya Games, Marak said that the State government should ensure that there should not be any issues with the accommodations and food for the participants.
“I saw some WhatsApp videos and comments. I think the government should have taken proper care because so much money is being spent for this event and all the institutions have given their places for the accommodations of athletes. I only feel that in the context of the amount being spent for the event proper food should have been given to the participants,” Marak said today.
Offering to help any of the participants having trouble with food or anything, Marak gave his mobile phone number (94361-12975) so that participants can call him in case of any problem.
“I will be there to help them if they call me. They are our guests and so it is our duty as elected representatives to look after them,” he said.
