The state government makes all manner of rules but does not understand the plight of ordinary people and how these regulations can negatively affect them, Khasi Students Union (KSU) president said today.
Lambokstarwell Marngar said this on the day that the KSU donated essential commodities, including rice, dal and oil, to the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association (EKHLTWA) to help the taxi drivers affected by the ongoing lockdown imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19.
EKHLTWA general secretary, W Jyrwa, expressed gratitude to the KSU for their donation at a time when taxi drivers have had no opportunity to earn their livelihood.
Marngar criticised the government for not being able to provide the basic needs of people who are struggling to make ends meet during the lockdown, like drivers, street vendors and labourers.
