In protest against non-payment of dues and enhancement of daily wages, accredited social health activists (ASHAs) held a protest rally from Khyndailad to IGP in the city today.
The ASHAs under the banner of the All Meghalaya ASHA workers association from different parts of the state joined together held black flags and chanted slogans against the government.
The ASHA workers want an increment in their daily wages from Rs 90 to Rs 500 and pending dues that have not been cleared since 2018.
Meanwhile, Health Minister James Sangma invited leaders of the association and assured that the pending dues would be released next month while the revise payment of wages would be examined by June.
