For the benefit of the farmers during the lockdown, the state government has decided to set up farmers’ markets in various parts of East Khasi Hills district.
The government said that these would be temporary wholesale and also retail markets.
Sites in Sanmer, Hynniew Mer, Umdiengpun have been identified in Upper Shillong. Other suitable areas have been identified at the parking lot in Urkaliar, Mawkasiang Football Field, Shilliang Um Lawmei, Mawryngkneng, Sohryngkham, Smit, Laitkor and at Lawai Marbisu.
The government also informed that due to the workload in the district administration, the car passes relating to farming activities will be taken care of by the Department of Agriculture.
