Functioning of government hospitals and health centres in the State is likely to be affected tomorrow due to the proposed cease work protest by government doctors.
The protest was called by the Meghalaya Medical Services Association (MMSA) over the failure of the State government to take action against the authorities of Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH), Shillong.
The MMSA has demanded the State government to conduct an inquiry against the registrar and director of IIPH for making baseless allegations against the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman War in the media.
The association also sought action against Principal Secretary (Health) Sampath Kumar for siding with the IIPH which is not a government body.
It also supported the attempt by Dr. War to remove IIPH from the Health Department’s property at Lawmali which is presently being occupied by IIPH.
MMSA also questioned the delay by IIPH to shift to the land that has been allotted by the State government at Umsawli in New Shillong.
