he State government on Wednesday decided not to conduct the remaining Class XII papers which were earlier postponed due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was decided during a meeting chaired by State Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui with officials of the department and Meghalaya Board of School Education.
The Class XII papers of Computer Science, Statistics, Vocational Studies and Western Music were postponed due to lockdown in the State.
“The decision we took today is that we will not conduct anymore examination for the remaining papers of Computer Science, Statistics, Vocational Studies and Western Music for class XII. Marking will be done by the MBoSE according to certain parameter,” Rymbui told reporters after the meeting.
The Education Minister added that the board will come up with these factors to determine the marks of a student.
Apart from that the meeting also discussed the holding of examinations for those students of Class X and XII who missed certain subjects or the entire examination due to the disease or since they were staying in containment zones.
The Education Minister informed that there are about 74 students of the SSLC (Class X) who missed some papers which needs to be re-conducted and 34 candidates who missed all the papers. Similarly in the HSSLC (Class XII) Rymbui informed that there are 92 candidates had missed some papers and 15 missed the entire examination.
“It will be conducted most probably in mid-July,” the Education Minister informed.
Rymbui also told reporters that the government has decided that at least for the Class XII results “by any means” it should be declared before July 31.
