Governor C.H Vijayashankar and C&RD Minister Abu Taher Mondal today launched the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign at Raj Bhavan, Shillong.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor expressed his delight in participating in the launch, emphasizing the campaign’s goal of displaying the national flag in every household, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the significance of the campaign, which promotes patriotism and unity. This campaign was begun on India’s 75th independence anniversary, in fostering national pride and encouraging patriotism.
The Governor also acknowledged Meghalaya’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle, mentioning notable State freedom fighters like U Tirot Sing, Kiang Nangbah, and Pa Togan Sangma.
The event included the distribution of national flags and the launch of two books published by the Department of Arts and Culture, “U Tirot Sing” and “Bravehearts and Champions of Freedom from the Hills.”
Government officials, police, NCC cadets, and members of self-help groups attended the programme.
