In a virtual event today, the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, attended the “One World TB Summit” organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Stop TB Partnership, in observance of World Tuberculosis Day at Rudrakash Convention Centre in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The programme aimed to reaffirm the Ministry’s commitment towards TB elimination in the country.
During the summit, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi addressed the attendees and launched various initiatives including the TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative, the pan-India rollout of shorter TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), a Family-centric care model for TB and also released India’s Annual TB Report (2023).
The Prime Minister also awarded select States/Union Territories and districts for their progress towards eliminating TB.
