The perpetrators of the brutal assault that led to the death of one person in Golf Links last week will be brought to book shortly, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said today.
The assault occurred on the evening of March 21, with one victim, Pherlangroy Myrthong (20) expiring from his injuries yesterday morning.
Tynsong insisted that the incident was not an example of tribal vs non-tribal conflict. He urged the public and pressure groups in particular to exercise restraint and allow the authorities to do their job.
“It is not an issue between tribal and non-tribal. These are antisocial elements and we have entrusted the Police Department to do the needful,” Tynsong told reporters today.
The Deputy CM also said that the government has expressed his sorrow over the death of Myrthong, who was from Wahkaji, South West Khasi Hills.
