The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has banned the gathering of people in Golf Links on Sundays to try and curb the spread of Covid-19, it was announced today.
The golf course is a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike to while away time on Sundays and has seen severe crowding, with little physical distancing or mask wearing, despite the pandemic.
The state government had issued orders for the closure of certain tourist spots in East Khasi Hills on April 21 because of the high infection rates reported in the district.
