Following the recent announcement by the State government to spent around Rs 15 crore for the promotion of tourism especially for the upcoming Autumn Festival, the Mait Shaphrang Tourism Promotion Group (MSTPG) said that to compliment this effort, the government should set aside a substantial amount of money as cash award for the cleanest and best maintained tourist spots in terms of preserving and promoting the ecology of the place.
In a statement issued today, MSTPG chairman Michael N. Syiem suggested instituting such awards in every district of the State and also to make it an annual event.
“This award will not only give an incentive to maintain the cleanliness of the place but also encourage all stakeholders to preserve and enhance the ecology of the tourist spots and its surroundings,” Syiem said.
