The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced its first batch of 17 candidates for the forthcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), which are scheduled for April 12.
Out of the 17 candidates, only one is a woman in Lakitha D Shira for the Damas constituency.
BJP vice president Bernard Marak was selected to represent the party from the prestigious Tura MDC seat.
The other candidates are John Gunchong D Shira (Siju Rongra), Wolden Sangma (Silkigri), Heringstone Marak (Rongrikimgre), Pramod Koch (Barengapara), Rightous N Sangma (Babelpara), Daniel M Sangma (Dengnakpara), Boston Marak (Nagarpara), Bhupendar Hajong (Zikzak), Bakul Ch Hajong (Betasing), Cyril S Sangma (Balachanda), Md Fozibar Rahman (Shyam Nagar), Ranjit Rabha (Naguapara), Mamik M Sangma (Rongrong), Lopsing Marak (Samandagre) and Greatwill Sangma (Williamnagar).
