Sitting MDC of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) from Bolsong in North Garo Hills, Jogonsing D Sangma passed away today after a prolonged illness.
Sangma died at 1:30 am today after struggling with cancer for some time. He was close to 55.
The MDC had initially been diagnosed with Hepatitis B and jaundice before a check in a Guwahati based hospital revealed it to be cancer. He had been bedridden for the past few months.
Sangma won on Congress ticket from Bolsong in 2015 after three previous attempts at the same. His first attempt was in the year 2004. He was a first time MDC from the area.
His funeral today, held at his home, saw the presence of the GHADC Chief Executive Member Dipul Marak, GHADC Chairman Denang Sangma, MDCs – Sengnal Sangma, Sukharam Sangma, Rightious Sangma, Smith Momin, Rupert Sangma among others along with family and well wishers.
Former Congress MLA Cherak Momin was also present during the funeral service while former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, sent his condolences on the death of the leader.
