Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), under the aegis of Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) said that although their hopes are shaken for not getting their 32 months salaries the fight gets mightier.
As the non-gazetted employees are at loggerheads with the authorities, it is alleged that the president of the NGEA is placed under suspension as he leads the fight from the front.
“The president of the NGEA was placed under suspension only for the reason that he is heading the fight to release the salary of the employee by filing the contempt case in the High court of Meghalaya for non-releasing the salary of GHADC despite of High Court Order,” the NGEA claimed.
“But there is nothing illegal on the part of the leader of the NGEA while fighting legally for releasing their salary but they were targeted in a different form and are currently facing a lot of disciplinary action from Rikse. R. Marak,” the association added.
Stating that at the time when the GHADC is facing the financial crisis to release the salary to the employees for 32 months, the association alleged, “It is shocking to reveal that rampant corruption is still going on in GHADC even after the imposition of administrative rule in GHADC and the main person behind all these corruption is non-other than Rikse R. Marak the present Secretary of GHADC.”
The NGEA had alleged that the Secretary of GHADC had given contract work to two staffs of GHADC – Nachy Ch. Marak Superintendent General Department and Bandi D. Marak LDA of Finance Department of GHADC to renovate and beautify the William Point and on the pretext of the constructing and beautifying it they were trying to withdraw the bill before Christmas.
The Secretary had denied the allegations and said that the work was done departmentally through the Civil Works department of GHADC.
