As part of the second anniversary celebration, the Gracious Givers Foundation (GGF), a non- profitable charitable organisation in Meghalaya, organised a marathon race with more than 50 participants joining the race amidst the rain today.
Participants from different corners of the state participated in the marathon under the theme, “Run For Peace”, a call for peace and harmony amid raging wars and disputes observed around the world.
The marathon started from State Central Library, round DC office, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong Commerce, Don Bosco Square, Laitumkhrah police point, Fire Brigade, Dhankheti, Malki, Civil police point and ended in the Library.
Welbethstar Ramsiej, Sainkupar Jyrwa and Iwell John Ramsiej bagged the first, second and third place respectively in the men’s category, while Marqueenless Ramsiej bagged the first place in the women’s category, followed by Lyntijingkyrmen K Jahrin and Clairjones Jala Kharbhih in second and third place.
75-year old Disil Nongrum was the oldest participant and 9-year old Risawanlindakmen Lyngkhei, the youngest.
The winners of the marathon will be awarded with incentives during the foundation’s main programme on June 25.
All the participants were awarded with a certificate of participation.
