Protocols have been issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner for the reopening of saloons and beauty parlours in East Khasi Hills.
Only basic services are permissible at the moment, like haircuts or shaving but, curiously, protocol number two says, “Everyone inside the saloon/beauty parlour should wear N-95 mask or double mask (3-ply surgical mask with cloth mask) without fail. Mask should not be removed at any point.” It is not clear whether this applies to customers who come in for a shave as well.
All barbers and beauticians must wear masks and gloves at all times. They must sanitise their hands, scissors, combs, before and after the procedure is carried out. Fresh blades and disposable gowns must be used for each customer. The cost of this protective gear can be added in the charges levied on customers.
Procedures must not take more than 20 minutes. Longer procedures should be avoided.
Other common sense protocols must also be adhered to.
