The A’chik Organisation for Social Welfare (AOSW) has joined with the Williamnagar Bar Association in recommending that a bench of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) court be set up in the East Garo Hills district headquarters.
This would help bring justice closer to the people. With most of the population involved in farming, it is difficult for ordinary citizens to have to travel to Tura for court hearings.
Last week, the Williamnagar Bar Association had petitioned the state government for a bench of the Meghalaya High Court to be set up in Garo Hills, preferably in Williamnagar.
