Only two weeks ago Meghalaya was the worst performing state in the entire country as far as the rate of growth in Covid-19 cases but things have changed entirely since then, with the state now the best, at least in the North East.
According to covidtracking.in, new cases in Meghalaya have declined by 44 percent in the last 14 days. Other states in the region that have seen a decline in the same period are Nagaland (34 percent), Assam (28 percent) and Tripura (15 percent).
The other four states are still seeing increases in cases.
Mizoram’s are up by three percent, Arunachal Pradesh by four percent, Sikkim by 13 percent and Manipur by 30 percent. While the first three are in the yellow zone, with a low growth in new infections, Manipur is in the orange zone, with a ‘moderate’ growth.
Just a fortnight ago Meghalaya experienced the highest rate of growth in Covid-19 cases across the country. The state had seen a growth of 177 percent in coronavirus cases in the previous 14 days at that time.
