Shillong, Jun 30: Border Security Force (BSF) authorities have informed that there is an order suspending transfer and posting of personnel due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Kuldeep Saini today said that due to this order, fresh posting of the BSF personnel at the Meghalaya Frontier headquarters is negligible.
“We have hardly any case, except some cases on compassionate grounds. Otherwise, general postings are not being done,” Saini said.
It may be mentioned that three BSF personnel and a wife of one of them who had come in from outside have tested positive for Covid-19 here.
“All of them have returned to the State from their leave. Because of the lockdown they were not able to come,” Saini said, adding that contact tracing has been done in the border.
Saini also said that till date there have been no cases in the border.
He informed that the BSF was strictly following the health guidelines and protocols issued by the government.
“Many of them are returning back after the three-month lockdown and they have come back because they have to perform duty and we cannot leave the border without any security. Those people who have stayed back would now like to go back and be with their families,” he said.
Saini also said that if the BSF authorities do not allow the personnel who were on leave to come back and if another person asks for leave then there will be depletion of border guards in the border.
“For those who have returned, we are keeping them in quarantine for 14 days and then depending on their conditions and completing their quarantine period they are being sent to the border and other places,” the BSF official informed.
Saini also said that he too had gone out on leave and was presently under self quarantine at home on his return.
“I am not attending the office for 14 days and I’m working from home,” he said.
