The Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) has urged the State government to give free treatment for those injured in the IED blast yesterday and to ensure protection of its citizen.
CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing and general secretary Evangeline Thabah while condemning the bomb blast in Laitumkhrah market said it was an act of cowardice.
“In a civil society the public should strongly condemn this sort of attack and should cooperate with investigators to find the perpetrators so that the people don’t have to live in fear by terror threats. A civil society cannot promote violence,” the CSWO said.
After the bomb attack, the outlawed Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) in an email statement had claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage near the blast site, which was also shared online that shows a child playfully running the lane just seconds before the blast, has evoke strong criticisms from the citizens.
Comment sections on the Highland Post page reads:
“Thank God that the child was unhurt. N to later on say that u don’t intend to hurt innocent people is absolutely ridiculous. God knows how to protect our children.”
“OMG… What a narrow escape the people in the video had.. Especially the young innocent child must have had a tremendous shock because of the impact of the sound. Really scary indeed.”
“What’s your target….we didn’t know but please don’t ever target the innocent people.”
“Attacking innocent civilians won’t change anything.”
