Meghandini Mahila Samiti, a voluntary women organisation, today organised free distribution of study materials among the downtrodden and deprived children of the society.
This activity is performed as a part of its annual social assistance programme, where students of Madan Laban Nepali Secondary School, Madan Laban were benefitted.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, former IPS officer Mariahom Kharkrang lauded the work of the Samiti towards empowering women and their social commitment.
He urged the youth to be involved in sports and extracurricular activities so as to avoid stress and pressure.
Kharkrang also asked the school management to create career oriented awareness programmes for the future goal of the children of the school.
“The children are the backbone of our society and so we need to nurture them to their finest,” he said.
