Shillong, Mar 4: The District Social Welfare Office, in collaboration with ALIMCO and HUDCO, organised a ‘Samajik Adhikari Shivir’ at Prime Hub IVCS, Diengkynthong to distribute free aids and assistive devices to Divyangjan and senior citizens.
Over 2,322 beneficiaries from Mylliem and Khatarshnong under Laitkroh block received devices, including Braille kits, hearing aids, wheelchairs, and walking sticks, aimed at enhancing mobility and accessibility.
Chief guest Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem encouraged beneficiaries to pursue their goals despite disabilities, while Deputy Commissioner R. M. Kurbah reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
Representatives from ALIMCO and HUDCO also highlighted the importance of empowering persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
