The All Meghalaya 4th Teachers’ Association, Garo Hills unit, held a meeting on Saturday at Asanang Adhoc UP School, with over 100 teachers in attendance.
The association wants ‘equal pay for equal work’ and regularisation of their posts.
Fourth teachers are pushing for an increase in pay from Rs 12,000 per month to Rs 20,000, which would cost the state exchequer some Rs 1.22 crore.
The association has held meetings with the state government and submitted a memorandum on the issue to the Governor as well but is still waiting for the increase in pay.
