The District & Session Judge in South West Garo Hills has sentenced four persons to two years simple imprisonment for abduction.
The court in its judgement order on September 21, 2022 also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Tangbath R. Sangma, Lahen Ch. Marak, Rengan Ch. Marak and Chensbath A. Sangma. In default, they will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of one month for the offence u/s 365/34 IPC.
South West Garo Hills police in a statement today said the four persons were arrested for the abduction of one Md. Abdur Rahim of Bagicha village under Mahendraganj PS.
Rahim was abducted on July 17, 2020 from a construction site, where he was working at at Rongsang Abagre.
A case was registered under Ampati PS and investigation was carried out by the Betasing outpost SI Gaurav B. Koch. Police said during the course of investigation all the four persons were arrested and the victim was rescued safely.
The case was charge sheet on September 23, 2020.
