Four proposals have been received for environment clearance to carry out scientific mining of coal in the State.
This was informed by chairman of State Expert Appraisal Authority on Environment, Naba Bhattacharjee to media persons here today.
“We have received four proposals till now, which have been uploaded on the website of the Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change. We have appraised those four proposals and we have issued the terms of reference based on which the Environment Impact Assessment report and Environment Management Plan will be formulated,” Bhattacharjee said.
Stating that there are standard terms of references which the project proponent can download, he said, “But in addition to that since we are mandated with the protection of the environment by the union ministry, from our committee we have added another 26 additional conditions”.
Bhattacharjee said that these conditions vary from one project to another and are also related to water bodies, overburden and others.
