Four labourers were assaulted at Jaiaw in Dinam Hall today by a group of unidentified men.
Sources said that the labourers were working putting up a wedding pandal at the site when a group of about 25 men barged in and assaulted them.
All the injured were taken to Shillong Civil Hospital and were later released after medical aid.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger today in a press statement has urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation without proper verification of facts.
“There is a post going viral on social media about an assault on a person by non tribal miscreants at Golf Link area and that special hit squads have been formed to target tribal individuals.”
“It may be informed that the matter has been verified and no such incident occurred. At the same time nobody has come forward to file any complaint,” he added.
