Shillong, Jan 20: Meghalaya’s former Director General of Police (DGP) William Richmond Marbaniang fondly called as “Bah Bill” died on Tuesday, after a brief illness.
He was taken to Super Care Hospital on Friday where he breathe his last.
His tenure as the Meghalaya DGP was from January 31, 2005 till March 21, 2007. He served the Meghalaya police in various positions.
Marbaniang is survived by his wife Enid Richmond Basaiawmoit, his son William Richmond Basaiawmoit of Shillong Chamber Choir, daughter Lorina Richmond Basaiawmoit and other family members.
Marbaniang was a distinguished officer who served the state with dedication, integrity, and quiet resolve.
He will be remembered not only for his years of exemplary service, but also for his warmth, humility, and the genuine affection he shared with those around him. His life and legacy will be cherished from here to eternity.
His funeral service will be held on January 22 at his home in Nongrimbah, Laitumkhrah at 11am followed by the cremation at his maternal village in Laitkroh, Mawjrong.
