In view of Diwali celebrations tomorrow, West Garo Hills District Magistrate, Ram Singh has passed an order under Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting the sale, purchase and procurement of foreign made firecrackers, the use of series crackers or laris which cause huge air and noise pollutions and solid waste problem.
The order also prohibited use of fire-crackers generating noise level exceeding 125dB (A1) at four meters distance from the point of bursting and bursting of fire-crackers within 100 meters of hospitals, healthcare centres, religious places, educational institutions, etc and other areas which may have been declared as silent zone by the concerned authorities.
According to the order, the firecrackers which have been permitted will be sold only through the licensed traders and the bursting of firecrackers will be allowed from 8:30 pm to 10 pm tomorrow.
