The office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS Project, Mawkyrwat, today organized the food recipe competition on nutritive food for pregnant women at Indoor Mini Stadium, Mawlangwir.
The programme was participated by pregnant women and lactating mothers, Self Help Groups, Anganwadi, and ASHA workers of Mawlangwir.
Nengnong, DPO, ICDS Cell, Nongstoiñ, West Khasi Hills District, reminded that the Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition or POSHAN Abhiyaan or National Nutrition Mission, which is the Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers that commenced from 2018.
She stressed the importance to know the (nutritional status) of a child and enlighten on the Interpretation of Mid-Upper Arm Circumference MUAC indicators.
Reminding the mothers on the need to cooperate and work together with the Anganwadi workers during their home visit, she stressed the need to take all the required vaccines for the protection of the mother and the child and appealed pregnant women to eat nutritious food, and the regular intake of medication and timely checkups.
Snaitang, Superintendent of Food & Supply, Nongstoiñ and Mawkyrwat informed about the presence of the Food & Supply, ICDS, and Education to assist the public and the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) and schemes like Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority House Holder (PHH), he urged the adults to avail the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0.
