More than 35 farmer producer groups attended a FOCUS programme to enhance their skills in the production and marketing of agricultural produce today.
The Meghalaya Basin Management Authority, Nongpoh, distributed cheques sanctioned to 35 producer groups from different villages of the district to the tune of Rs 20 lakh.
During the programme, cheques were handed over to the representatives of these produce groups by local MLA Mayralborn Syiem.
Syiem lauded the state government for initiating valuable steps in enhancing and upscaling the efforts of the farmers to spur production marketing of their produce. He also urged the farmers to also focus on preserving Mother Nature in terms of preventing catchment area destruction so that future generations will not face environmental hardships.
