Despite all the criticism it has received, the FOCUS and FOCUS+ agricultural schemes will continue after the election if the National People’s Party (NPP) wins on February 27, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said today.
Sangma was addressing an election rally in Myriaw-Mawthadraishan for NPP candidate Biolinda Lyngdoh Nonglait.
He said that criticism of the twin schemes are from political parties that are playing politics. The CM explained that the money for farmers under the scheme are not loans but grants and do not have to be repaid by the recipients.
Sangma also praised Nonglait as a qualified person who understands the importance of education and health care and who is a person connected to the youth and women.
Furthermore, he promised that the field where the meeting was being held will be converted into a proper stadium with quality sports infrastructure.
