Shillong, Mar 5: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma distributed cheques worth Rs 2.85 crore to beneficiaries of three East Garo Hills blocks under the Green Meghalaya and FOCUS+ schemes.
Coming just a month before Garo Hills goes to the polls for its district council, Sangma touted his government’s development of infrastructure and thanked the central government for helping Meghalaya become the second-fastest growing state by GSDP.
Sangma announced the government will extend FOCUS+ registration by two years and has spent over Rs 150 crore under FOCUS in the last five years.
Cabinet minister and Williamnagar MLA Marcuise N Marak highlighted the government’s vision to make Meghalaya a $10 billion economy by 2028.
Deputy Commissioner RP Marak said over 900 beneficiaries in East Garo Hills will receive the second installment and 150 villages are covered under Green Meghalaya.
