The much anticipated Delhi-Shillong-Delhi flight would commence operations tomorrow.
Flybig (Big Charter Pvt. Ltd), India’s new schedule commuter airline was awarded the contract for this route through a tender floated by Meghalaya Transport Corporation at the beginning of the year.
It would initially operate the flight twice a week. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Flybig would take some time to operate its own aircraft on this route.
However, to commence operations immediately Flybig is making arrangements to operate a Bombardier Q400 aircraft (which is as per the agreement) available as charter.
Additional sectors and flights out of Shillong are planned in the subsequent months.
Tomorrow’s flight would depart from New Delhi at 1000 hrs and arrive in Umroi airport at 1310 hrs. It would depart from Umroi airport at 1350 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 1700 hrs.
Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar would be representing the State government in the inaugural flight.
