The Ri-Bhoi unit of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has highlighted another stretch of road in the district that has seemingly been forgotten about.
The pressure group has urged the authorities to undertake blacktopping of the road from Sonidan to Umsiang, emphasising the dire condition of this neglected route.
The government recently blacktopped the Umsning to Sonidan road but the Sonidan to Umsiang stretch remains in a dilapidated state.
Shanlang Diengdoh of the FKJGP thanked the government for blacktopping the 40km Umsning to Sonidan stretch but highlighted the need for similar work to the other road.
“If this expectation is met, it will be a blessing for many local residents across various areas from Sonidan to Umsiang,” he added.
