The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Khliehriat circle today took upon itself the task of shutting down a shop for reportedly selling expired candies at Ladrymbai Dongwah.
According to the president, Michal Chyrmang the organisation acted after they received a complaint from a woman that the shop was selling eatables even after expiration date.
He said the Food Safety officer also reached the shop after being informed and the case was taken up for investigation.
The FKJGP president also stated that the owner of the shop also tried to offer them money, which they declined. He added that the owner did not posses food license and trading license.
Urging people to be cautious while buying packed food products by checking the manufacture and expiry dates, Chyrmang also said that the district Food Safety Officer should conduct regular checking to prevent any untoward incident in the future.
