Shillong, Jul 3: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Faro People (FKJGP) has highlighted the immense danger faced by people undergoing treatment at Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital in the absence of a blood bank there.
“As of now operations of patients and pregnant mothers are being done every week without a blood bank which poses a threat to the patients who need emergency blood,” the FKJGP West Khasi Hills district said today.
It also pointed out that Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital lies at the heart of West Khasi Hills district, most of the people of the district seek medical care there.
The pressure group also pointed out that it had submitted a memorandum in this regard to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma when he visited Nongstoiñ on August 7, 2018 and again exactly a year later.
“The blood bank has been completed but is yet to be opened,” it said while pleading for its early opening so as to cater to the needs of those in need of blood transfusions.
