The Fire & Emergency Service Training School at Mairang in West Khasi Hills was today inaugurated by Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh.
The campus along with infrastructures on which the Training School has been established, belonged to the General Administrative Department and the Office of the Executive Engineer PWD (Roads) Mairang, AIG (A) G. K. Iangrai informed in a statement today.
The training school will be conducting Basic Elementary Fire Fighting Training as well as Cadre Courses for the new recruits and in-service officials of the organisation and henceforth, all technical trainings will be imparted in this School, the statement added.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Director General of Police, R. Chandranathan and other government officials were present at the inaugural function.
Meanwhile, medal presentations to officials of the organisation who were awarded with Governor’s Medal and demonstration of techniques adopted by F&ES organisation in their endeavour to mitigate disasters were presented.
An exhibition of all the equipment available with F&ES was also displayed during the programme.
