A fire broke out in the forest office colony area at Lawmali, Polo today, causing widespread panic and significant damage to properties, sending plumes of smoke.
Sunil Kumar Savita, Commandant, 67 BN said the incident happened at around 11 am. He said a unit water tanker and personnels of the battalion was dispatched to prevent any major incident.
Savita accompanied by Sanjeev Kumar, 2-I/C (OPS), Thanglenlal Misao, Deputy Commandant and Rohit Kumar, Assistant Commandant reached the spot and took stock of the incident.
“The fire is currently being managed, though fire fighting teams continued to work towards full containment. The damage to homes and infrastructure is significant, and authorities are assessing the full scale of the destruction,” Savita said.
The CRPF has urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and stay clear of the fire zone as emergency teams continue their work.
