Shillong, Apr 1: A∙king Nokma of Dorakgre in East Garo Hills Rikme T. Sangma has filed a police complaint against three individuals for illegal appointment of Nokma, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.
The Nokma in the FIR lodged at Chiading Police Station named former GHADC Deputy CEM Nikman Ch Marak, Tantul M Sangma and Renubala T Sangma, who she said undermined her official position.
Rikme said that she is a legally recognised Nokma of Dorakgre registered and certified by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) after the demise of her parents, who were the previous Nokmas.
According to the Nokma, Tantul and Renubala had earlier filed a complaint before the GHADC, seeking cancellation of her Nokmaship. But their appeal was dismissed on November 28, 2025 due to lack of evidence and merit.
She said despite the dismissal of their complaint, the duo were illegally appointed as Nokmas on February 27, 2026 without following due procedure like cancellation of her Nokmaship. She added that no official notice was issued to her prior to the appointment and was done with no proper inquiry and no Mauzadar report prepared.
Furthermore she said that a forged Ma∙ambi (record of Nokma lineage) of Dorakgre A∙king was issued by the former deputy CEM, wherein her deceased parents name was deliberately omitted.
Rikme said the illegal appointment has caused serious disturbance to peace, harmony, and lawful administration of the A∙king, affecting her family and community.
