A tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening in Dimapara, Meghalaya, when a teacher and his son were swept away by flood waters in West Garo Hills district.
According to eyewitnesses, the teacher was driving back to Tura from Nagrajora-Sempara side of Gasuapara with his son when they encountered a flooded road at Sonagre village, near Bugai RCC bridge on National Highway 217.
The vehicle, with the father-son in it, was swept away by strong currents.
Local authorities and the State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) immediately launched a search operation on the Bugai river to locate the missing duo.
