A resident of Khliehriat West in East Jaiñtia Hills has blamed the Khliehriat CHC for the death of his chickens stating that water waste flowing from the hospital has killed hundreds of them.
Vesper Lamare stated that the community health centre has not repaired the walls damaged by rain during the summer and therefore waste has been entering the sheds located near it.
Lamare who raised the issue with the East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC) Khliehriat West is also upset that authorities of the health centre refused to compensate for his loss.
According to the EJNC, the issue was taken up with the authorities on January 21 wherein a letter seeking inspection and compensation for Lamare was also submitted.
The association said the next day they met with Medical in-charge of the CHC, Dr N. Pahoh on the matter. “The doctor refused to pay for the loss and made rude remarks that she will stop the service at the CHC,” the association said.
Discontented the EJNC has decided to soon meet the District Medical Health Officer and the East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner to take up the matter.
