Two families falling under Pynursla C&RD Block whose houses were destroyed by a natural disaster were denied assistance from the block office for the past three years despite obtaining the work order since 2019.
The houses belonged to Barikmon Tynsong and Monlang Khongwir of Mawkajem village that were destroyed by a storm in 2019.
As per the work order, Tynsong was sanctioned an amount of Rs 1, 01,900 while Monlang Khongwir with only Rs 5,200. However to date, these two families are made to run from pillar to post to receive the assistance
The work order signed by the then BDO Pynursla C&RD Block P Khonglah and local MLA Prestone Tynsong was obtained in 2019 after the incident occurred but to date this amount is yet to be released.
“We were told several times to go and check in the bank and update our passbook to see if the money has been transferred but nothing has been done to date,” the victims said.
Meanwhile, the HYC Ri-War Mihngi circle who accompanied the family has served a deadline of 15 days to the new BDO of Pynursla C&RD Block failure of which they will take other steps.
They also condemned the Deputy Chief Minister for ignoring the plight of the poor in the constituency even as they alleged that Pynursla C&RD Block is favouring only the people who are close to the party in power in the region.
