In what was just a mere exchange of money between an enforcement officer of the Taxation department and his superintendent inside the office premises has been turned into a controversy after a video that was apparently jokingly made but was later uploaded on social media as a claim that it was money taken for clearance of TNT licenses of traders.
The enforcement official who took the video, Dibakar Koch, is the officer for Mahendraganj region and is seen in the video handing some money over to his senior D K Sangma.
“I jokingly took the video of me handing cash to my officer but there is no mention of any money demanded for TNT license in the video. Someone has spread this falsely. My phone was stolen last month and I have already filed an FIR on it,” claims Koch whose voice can be clearly heard in the video.
The video, which spread like wildfire, sought action against the official on the basis that the money was being demanded for a license.
Meanwhile reacting to the video, the BJP Tura unit has called for a probe into what actually took place following the spreading of this video on social media by some people.
Meanwhile, the affected official is filing a criminal case against those behind the spread of fake news tarnishing his image and the office of the district council.
