Shillong, Feb 7: An ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh was handed over to the family of ACHIK leader Dilseng M Sangma, killed in a mob attack in Goalgaon, West Garo Hills.
District Administration officials along with community leaders handed over the cheque from the Chief Minister’s Special Grant to the family.
“Our hearts are with the bereaved family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a loved one is never easy, and we hope this support brings some comfort,” Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma wrote on social media.
On January 9, Sangma was killed in a mob attack when he and his team were inspecting illegal stone quarrying activities.
So far, 10 suspects have been arrested, including a quarry owner and a sawmill owner.
