A six-day training programme on ‘Handmade Embroidery Making’ was held at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community College (DDUCC) for Skill Development in Wahiajer from January 29 to February 4.
The objective of the programme was to empower the local youths in the community with essential vocational skills for their economic independence and sustainable livelihood.
During the six days, artisans from diverse groups of the community were provided with hands-on training through practical demonstration and interactive sessions taught by the resource persons.
The artisans gained insights and knowledge on cutting, stitching and the utilisation of different types of trimmings in handmade embroidery making to enhance their craft skills.
The valedictory function was held today in the presence of retired professor Henry Lamin, who was the founder principal of the DDUCC, and Lukas Jat, a member of the Wahiajer village council.
This initiative was part of DDUCC’s and NEHU’s broader commitment in promoting vocational education and skill development.
